·   direction of studies on geosynthetic durability, geotextiles for road stabilization, and fabric reinforced chip seals for road resurfacing, and dredged material‑filled geotextile tubes for coastal erosion protection and sludge dewatering;

·   preparation of designs, design guides, and technical manuals for geosynthetic-reinforced pavements and soil structures;

·   manufacturing quality control and certification program development;

·   geosynthetic and erosion and sediment control product research and development, testing, and characterization.
